From Fereshte Teyfouri Hedjazi
The call for freedom and democracy in Egypt and the desire for a proper election process is reminiscent of the mass movement and protests in Iran in June 2009 after the presidential election. Here the Iranians protested against election fraud and calling for democracy and freedom. They moved with the cry: "Where is my vote" through the streets and showed everyone in the world, as they took seriously their choice, and desire for participation in political decisions. This was suppressed by the fraud and eliminated. They demonstrated the dominant self-will of the regime and gave Molla expressed her dissatisfaction. The opposition tried to win over the army and to encourage soldiers to drain of brutal behavior. Short films by amateurs testify touching scenes, such as the distribution of flowers and candy to soldiers. These scenes hint at the fraternity, the religious unity and cultural identity.
Although the bloody clashes, arrests and the use of barbaric methods of torture in the prisons of this movement has apparently brought to a standstill, but was the "green movement" which has taken a different path than the struggle, and selects a different approach. The similarity of the events in Iran that is amazing in Egypt. Some say that the "aftershock" of the first shock Iran appear now in Egypt and other countries with a totalitarian regime. In Egypt there have been deaths and injuries. Here, too, were protesters, arrested reporters, bloggers and advocates of democracy.
The result of the demonstrations in Egypt will show to what extent the similarity in the endpoint. One thing you can say with certainty: The times of the totalitarian regime are gone. The countries that withdraw from economic interests, or continue to support these regimes know also that they may have no permanent existence. You know very well that people's rights to political and economic aspects are coupled. The values of humanity are the same. People everywhere want to enjoy their rights. We are in an era of history in which we speak of global rights. I mean rights that are not dictated by any ideologies, but to all people around the globe.
